Launch of the engine
Prevention Before launch of the engine to put the lever of gear shifting in neutral position (at the automatic transmission to install the selector in a "P" or "N" position) and it is reliable to tighten parking a brake. On the car with the mechanical transmission during launch of the engine to squeeze out a coupling pedal – the starter has to rotate only a bent shaft of the engine. As soon as the engine begins to work, immediately to release the ignition key – the starter should not rotate together with the engine. After start of the cold engine it will work within a short period of time with the increased noise as oil pressure in hydrocompensators of valvate gaps is not rather big. This normal phenomenon, and it should not disturb you. Do not allow operation of the heated-up engine at the parking! Immediately switch off! Until the engine heated up to normal working temperature, avoid to give it high turns and full supply of fuel. At towage of cars with catalytic converter for purification of the fulfilled gases it is impossible to continue to try to start the engine at towage distance more than 50 m. Not burned down fuel can get to catalytic converter and damage it. Before trying to start the engine by towage, it is necessary to try to launch it by means of the rechargeable battery of other car. Before launch of the cold or heated-up engine and during start-up it is not necessary to press an accelerator pedal. If it is not possible to start the engine at once, it is necessary to suspend process of start-up in 10 seconds and to repeat it in half-minute. If the engine is not started again, it is necessary to check the fuse of the electric drive of the fuel pump. After launch of very hot engine it is necessary to allow to it to work some time on average turns. At an external temperature above +5 °C: the engine at once can be started without prestarting heating. During start it is not necessary to press an accelerator pedal. At an external temperature below +5 °C: to turn a key in the lock of ignition in situation 2 – the control lamp of prestarting heating will light up. The lamp will go out after achievement of temperature sufficient for fuel ignition. When prestarting heating is included, all other large consumers of current have to be switched off – otherwise the rechargeable battery will be overloaded with big current. At once after switching off of a control lamp start the engine. During start it is not necessary to press an accelerator pedal. At even unstable ignition of fuel in the engine to give the chance to a starter some more seconds to work (no more than half-minute), so far the engine will not be able independently to work. If the engine is not started, once again include prestarting heating and then again try to start the engine as it was described above. If this time it is not possible to start the engine, check the fuse of a prestarting heater – perhaps it fused. |
