Selector positions

GENERAL INFORMATION


On a combination of devices the display on which is shown in what position there is a selector is located.
Prevention

Never during the movement you transfer the selector to a position "R" go "Р".


Р – Parking blocking.

Driving wheels are mechanically blocked.

The selector should be transferred to this position only at the number the car is completely stopped. Before inclusion and switching off of a position "P" it is necessary to press the blocking button on the selector handle. Before switching off of this position at the included ignition it is necessary to press a brake pedal in addition.

R – Backing.

The position of a backing has to join only at completely stopped car and when idling the engine. Before transition to a position "R" from positions "P" or "N" it is necessary to press a brake pedal and to press on the blocking button in the selector handle.

In a position "R" at the included ignition backing lamps burn.

N – Neutral position (idling position).

At a selector conclusion from a position "N" at a speed of movement up to 5 km/h, and also at the motionless car and the included ignition it is necessary to press a brake pedal and to press on the blocking button on the selector handle. However it is not obligatory to press the blocking button when from a position "N" the selector is transferred to positions "D".

D – Long advance.

Four transfers switch with low to higher and vice versa automatically depending on load of the engine and from the speed of the movement.

Under certain conditions the movements expediently temporarily to use one of below-mentioned positions.

3 – A position for "hilly" sections of the road.

Such position of the selector is recommended when in certain traffic conditions at position of the selector in a position "D" there is a frequent switching to the 3rd to the 4th transfer and vice versa.

For transfer of the selector to this position it is necessary to press the blocking button in the selector handle. Automatically the 1st, 2nd or 3rd transfers depending on load of the engine and speeds of the movement switch up and down. the 4th transfer is blocked. Thanks to it the brake effect of the engine also increases at fuel interruption in supply.

2 – A position for mountain sections of the road.

This position is recommended for long rises and descents. Automatically switch the 1st or 2nd transfer depending on load of the engine and speeds of the movement up and down. the 3rd and 4th transfers remain blocked to avoid not the necessary switchings to the highest transfers. At the same time efficiency of braking by the engine also increases.

1 – A position for mountain sections of the road with big biases.

The choice of this position is recommended when driving on steep slopes and descents. At inclusion of this position it is necessary to press the blocking button on the selector handle. The car moves only on the 1st transfer. the 2nd, 3rd and 4th transfers are blocked to avoid unnecessary switching to the highest transfers. At the same time the greatest possible effect of braking is reached by the engine.

The cruise control in a position "1" of the selector cannot be used.

At manual switching on decreasing it is possible to pass to positions "Z", "2" and "1", however switching to lower transfers happens automatically only when after switching the most admissible frequency of rotation of the engine is not exceeded.

Device of compulsory anticipatory switching to lower transfer (kik-Down)

This device provides the acceleration of the car, maximum on these traffic conditions. As soon as pressure upon a pedal of an accelerator exceeds a certain threshold value, depending on the frequency of rotation of the engine and speed of the movement there is a switching to one of lower transfers. The return switching to the next higher transfer will follow only then when the most admissible value of frequency of rotation of a bent shaft is reached.


Prevention

Keep in mind that on the slippery road driving wheels at compulsory anticipatory switching to lower transfer can begin to revolve.

Launch of the engine

The engine can be started only at position of the selector of management in positions "N" or "R".

The choice of a position for the movement

Before transfer of the selector to one of positions of the movement at the motionless car and the working engine it is necessary to press a brake pedal always.

At the choice of a position at the motionless car it is impossible to press an accelerator pedal.

If during the movement of the car the selector was incidentally installed in a position "N", it is necessary to take away before transfer of the lever to any position of the forward course a leg from a pedal of an accelerator and to wait for idling of the engine.


Prevention

At the working engine it is necessary to hold at position of the selector in any of positions of the movement the car by means of a foot brake as even at single turns of the engine torque transmission on wheels completely is not interrupted – the car creeps.

If at the motionless car one of positions of the movement is chosen, it is impossible to press at all uncontrolledly on an accelerator pedal (including to increase fuel supply by a hand from a motor compartment). The car immediately will begin to move – and it can occur under certain circumstances even then when the parking brake is tightened.

Before making any actions with the working engine, it is necessary to install the selector in a position "P" and to tighten the parking brake.


Start-off from the place

Choose one of positions of the movement (R, D, 3, 2, 1). Wait, there will be no inclusion of transfer in the transmission yet, and the stream of power will not reach driving wheels (at the same time the weak breakthrough is felt). Only then press an accelerator pedal.

Stop

At a short-term stop, for example, in front of the traffic light, there is no need to pass to a position "N". It is quite enough to hold the car by means of a brake. The engine, however has to work only at single turns.

Parking


On the road with a bias it is necessary to tighten at first reliably parking a brake, and then to put the selector in a position of parking blocking. Thanks to such order of operation the blocking mechanism will not be too strongly loaded and subsequently it will be possible to bring the selector out of this position easily.
